Former Alpine racer Esteban Ocon criticized the team for demoting Jack Doohan to a reserve driver role after only six races in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Doohan was promoted to a race seat at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with Ocon sacrificing his own drive to participate in a post-season test with Haas. Despite Doohan’s full-time seat for 2025, he was replaced by Franco Colapinto after six races without scoring points, struggling to keep up with teammate Pierre Gasly. Ocon expressed surprise at Doohan’s early demotion, believing the driver showed promise and deserved more chances to prove himself. The handling of driver line-ups and constant changes in leadership at Alpine have raised concerns about the team’s management practices. Ocon acknowledged the competitiveness for F1 seats but criticized the decision to replace Doohan abruptly, emphasizing the dedication and effort drivers invest in pursuing their F1 dreams.
