“Ott Tanak expressed his concerns about losing a drought-ending World Rally Championship win in Greece due to a gearbox issue during the final stage. Despite dominating the Acropolis Rally, Tanak’s Hyundai developed gearbox problems, causing him to lose time in the last stage. Nonetheless, he managed to secure the win, albeit with muted celebrations, as he was worried the car might not make it to the final time control. Tanak admitted the victory was stressful but a big relief, highlighting the much-needed win for Hyundai. Reflecting on the challenges faced in the rally, Tanak emphasized his pride in achieving his 22nd WRC win and acknowledged the tough competition from Sebastien Ogier. This victory has significantly enhanced Tanak’s chances in the championship, as he now trails the leader by 12 points.”
