Jorge Martin faces a double long penalty at the Valencia Grand Prix if deemed fit for MotoGP’s 2025 finale due to an incident at the Japanese Grand Prix.
During the MotoGP Sprint in Japan, Martin’s collision with teammate Marco Bezzecchi led to both riders’ withdrawal from the race.
After missing subsequent rounds due to shoulder surgery, Martin returned for a hearing where stewards assigned the double long lap penalty for ‘irresponsible’ riding.
The penalty will be enforced on race day, not during the sprint, impacting Martin’s tough season at Aprilia.
Currently undergoing medical tests, Martin aims to join the Valencia GP before testing the 2026-spec Aprilia.
