Legends of the Track Return: Ex-F1 Stars Rev Up for the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours

The link between Formula 1 and endurance racing is highlighted by the drivers participating in the Le Mans 24 Hours race. Former F1 drivers like Fernando Alonso and Nico Hulkenberg have ventured into endurance racing either temporarily or permanently. In 2025, we will witness several ex-F1 drivers competing in Le Mans, some being key figures in WEC teams while others taking on the French circuit for the first time.

One of the former F1 racers to watch at the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours Hypercar class is Antonio Giovinazzi of Ferrari AF Corse. Giovinazzi transitioned from single-seaters to endurance racing, securing his place in WEC and claiming a victory at the 2023 Le Mans 24 Hours. His F1 journey included stints with Sauber and Alfa Romeo, with a notable fifth-place finish at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix. After a brief period in Formula E, he returned to WEC, clinching another podium at Le Mans in 2024.

Another ex-F1 driver to look out for at Le Mans is Robert Kubica, also with AF Corse, driving the #83 Ferrari customer prototype. Kubica, renowned for his time in F1 with BMW, secured his debut podium in Italy and first win at the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix following a serious accident the year prior. This year, alongside other former F1 stars, Giovinazzi and Kubica will be aiming for success at the prestigious endurance race in Le Mans.
