KTM’s radical new MotoGP chassis shows the true success of the European marques
Carbon fibre chassis are not new in MotoGP, but KTM is hinting at their next development step by testing a carbon fibre frame. Ducati used a carbon fibre frame in 2009-2011, but switched to aluminium in 2012. KTM has stuck to its guns with the steel trellis chassis until now. The carbon fibre chassis aims to improve turning and grip, which have been challenges for KTM riders in recent years. The development of chassis has become an important battleground in MotoGP, especially if aerodynamics and ride height devices are restricted in future regulations.
