Kyle Kirkwood and the Andretti Global team executed a flawless strategy in the IndyCar Detroit Grand Prix, securing Kirkwood’s fourth career series win and second victory of 2025. All of Kirkwood’s wins have come on street circuits, showcasing his prowess in challenging conditions.
The AWS Honda car performed exceptionally well throughout the weekend, with Kirkwood praising his team for their epic pit stops and strategic decisions. Despite facing challenges during the race, Kirkwood managed to pass his way back to victory, crediting the team’s hard work and the car’s speed.
Kirkwood’s teammate, Colton Herta, initially led the race but Kirkwood quickly made his way past competitors to take the lead. The race saw some early cautions and unpredictable moments, adding drama to the competition.
Even with minor damage to his front wing during a battle for position, Kirkwood maintained his composure and successfully defended his lead until the race’s conclusion. A final restart and a red-flag situation did not shake Kirkwood’s dominance, securing a well-deserved victory for the Andretti team.
