IndyCar Portland: Lundgaard sets searing pace in first practice
Danish driver Lundgaard achieved the top spot in the IndyCar practice session, setting a flying lap time of 58.1776s on red sidewall tires. This marks Lundgaard’s second time leading a practice session in the series. Kyle Kirkwood from Andretti Autosport finished second, 0.1470s behind Lundgaard. Championship leader Alex Palou came in third, 0.779s off the pace. Pato O’Ward and Felix Rosenqvist from Arrow McLaren rounded out the top five. A few incidents occurred during the session, including red flags caused by Rosenqvist and Santino Ferrucci. Ryan Hunter-Reay had multiple issues, resulting in a six-position grid penalty. David Malukas held his ground amidst the podium controversy involving Scott McLaughlin.
