Argentina’s Franco Colapinto has joined the Formula 1 grid for the second time in two seasons, this time replacing Logan Sargeant at Williams.
Colapinto’s swift return to F1 with Alpine comes after being named as the team’s reserve driver and Jack Doohan underperforming in the first six rounds.
Alpine’s executive advisor Flavio Briatore has given Colapinto five races to prove himself, with a mid-season evaluation scheduled before deciding on the rest of the 2025 season.
Colapinto needs to deliver results for Alpine, as the team is looking to climb up from a lowly ninth place in the constructors’ table in the fiercely competitive midfield.
The Argentine driver must replicate his strong performances from 2024 and navigate the challenging midfield battle where every point is fiercely contested. Learning from the mistakes made by his predecessor, Colapinto needs to focus on consistency and maximizing the car’s potential in each race.
