Christian Horner expressed his confidence that Max Verstappen would continue with Red Bull in Formula 1, while refraining from confirming his presence beyond 2025. Verstappen’s future has sparked discussions, with Mercedes’ Toto Wolff reportedly interested in signing him for 2026. Horner downplayed the ongoing speculations, stressing the importance of the driver-team relationship and their clear understanding of the situation. He highlighted Verstappen’s long-standing connection with Red Bull and the team’s faith in him. Although external narratives persist, internally, they are at ease with the current scenario.
Regarding Verstappen’s contract, Horner emphasized confidentiality and performance clauses, indicating the driver’s intention to stay with Red Bull for 2026. He acknowledged Verstappen’s appeal to other teams but reiterated the clarity between him and Red Bull. The speculation was partly fueled by George Russell’s contract situation at Mercedes, which has stirred up discussions about driver line-ups. Horner mentioned Russell’s availability but clarified that Red Bull hasn’t engaged in talks with him yet, hinting at the team’s robust lineup for the transformative 2026 season, aligning with the significant rule changes in Formula 1.
