Emil Frey Ferrari driver Jack Aitken claimed his first DTM victory of the 2025 season at the Lausitzring, with a determined move to regain the lead from Schubert BMW racer Rene Rast after being undercut.
Rast expressed his happiness despite losing the victory two laps before the end, acknowledging BMW’s unexpected competitiveness in the race.
Jules Gounon (Winward Mercedes) finished third after a close battle with Rast for second place in the final lap, narrowly missing out.
DTM champion Mirko Bortolotti scored his best result of the season in the Abt Lamborghini, placing sixth, while Jordan Pepper (Grasser Lamborghini) secured fourth position.
A chaotic race start saw Thomas Preining colliding with polesitter Aitken, leading to retirements and shuffles in the field, including Marco Wittmann’s attempts to capitalize on the situation but being pushed off track.
The next DTM round will be at Zandvoort in two weeks, with Lucas Auer still leading the championship standings ahead of Gounon, Pepper, and Engel.
