Four days have passed since Marco Bezzecchi’s unexpected triumph at Silverstone, defying most predictions in a twist involving Jorge Martin and Aprilia, reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock.
Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola highlighted the RS-GP’s potential, urging Martin to reconsider his decision to leave, nullifying the second year of his contract.
Rivola aimed to convey that Martin is mistaken in his assessment of both the performance clause and the bike itself, emphasizing the bike’s capabilities after the victory.
Martin responded firmly, invoking his right to leave for the 2026 season, guided by a prestigious law firm and emphasizing the controversial clause’s importance.
The tension between Aprilia and Martin remains unresolved, with both parties staunch in their positions and the expectation that tensions will linger until Martin’s return from injury.
Aprilia, adamant that the clause is invalid, is prepared to go to great lengths to prevent Martin from riding for a rival team before 2027, as tensions escalate between the parties.
