David Crossen emerged victorious in round three of the British Historic Rally Championship held at the dry and dusty forests of North Wales last weekend, coming out on top in a thrilling battle.
The Plains Rally witnessed an intense competition between three Ford Escort Mk2 teams: Crossen/Ben Teggart, David Henderson/Chris Lees, and Dan Mennell/John Roberts, fighting fiercely throughout the dustiest stages of the Bala-based event in several years.
Despite a quick spin on the Dyfnant stage, Crossen clinched the win by only five seconds, with Henderson securing the runner-up position just three seconds ahead of Mennell.
The closely-matched crews were separated by only a single second in the final 5.6-mile stage, showcasing their outstanding performance in challenging conditions with dust hanging in the trees.
With two contenders experiencing setbacks, the Escorts had a clear field to showcase their skills across seven special stages, with Crossen showcasing his superiority and securing his second consecutive BHRC victory.
Adam Milner and Roy Jarvis triumphed in Category 2 with their Escort Mk1 despite facing wheel issues, while Baz Jordan and Arwel Jenkins claimed victory in Category 4 with their Galant, solidifying their lead in the BHRC points standings before the upcoming asphalt round at the Argyll Rally in south-west Scotland on 20-21 June.
