Controversy at the Indy 500: Three Finishers Disqualified for Technical Infractions

Indy 500 runner-up Marcus Ericsson, along with Kyle Kirkwood and Callum Ilott, were disqualified from this year’s race for failing technical inspections.

Andretti-run cars of Ericsson and Kirkwood, as well as Ilott’s #90 Prema entry, were found to have irregularities.

Modifications on the cars provided enhanced aerodynamic efficiency, leading to disqualification and a fine of $100,000 for each team.

The front wing of Ilott’s car did not meet the minimum specifications, resulting in additional penalties for the teams and competition managers.

Now, David Malukas is promoted to second place, and McLaren’s Pato O’Ward is classified third in the standings.
