Comeback King: From Shunt to Speed – Hospital Clears Cook for Racing After Thruxton Crash

Josh Cook, the record holder for wins at the British Touring Car Championship in Thruxton, has been cleared to race after a serious crash during qualifying at the Hampshire track. Despite a massive shunt in torrential conditions, Cook’s One Motorsport Honda Civic Type R has been repaired by the team, allowing him to start the first race in 14th position mid-grid. The impact led Cook to be sent to the hospital in Winchester for a precautionary X-ray on his right foot, but he has been given the green light to continue racing. With his quickest times removed due to causing a red flag, Cook is determined to make up ground in the reversed-grid race later in the day and is grateful for the support of the medical team and marshals. Cook described the challenging conditions that led to the accident and praised the resilience of the car’s chassis, which remained intact despite the impact.
