Ott Tanak is currently leading the Acropolis Rally Greece after a challenging Friday amid high temperatures, pushing the World Rally Championship crews to their limits.
Tanak’s steady pace and ability to avoid significant delays allowed him to finish the day with a 3.0s lead over his Hyundai teammate Adrien Fourmaux, with Sebastien Ogier of Toyota in third place [+16.9s].
Friday proved to be one of the toughest days of the season, with crews battling extreme heat inside the cars reaching nearly 70C as they navigated rough gravel stages that caused punctures and tire damage for many competitors.
Despite not securing the fastest stage time, Tanak was in the lead battle from the beginning, seizing the top spot from Ogier on stage six after trailing by 6.1s at the midday service zone.
Tanak faced challenges throughout the day, including a tire coming off the rim and issues with the balance of his Hyundai i20, but managed to stay out of serious trouble.
Elfyn Evans, the championship leader, encountered difficulties, including tire damage and a steering issue, but managed to climb to fourth place amidst the struggles of his competitors.
