Aprilia has confirmed that Jorge Martin will remain with the team until at least the end of 2026, despite his desire to be released from his contract early. The Italian manufacturer has emphasized that the existing contract between Martin and Aprilia is valid and must be respected until its expiration. Aprilia has denied engaging in negotiations to alter the contract duration and expects other teams to refrain from making offers to riders under contract. Honda is believed to be a potential destination for Martin if he is released from Aprilia, but Honda is awaiting a resolution to the conflict. Martin’s challenging season has been marked by injuries, including a recent pneumothorax, and his return to competition may not occur before the German GP in July.
