Kimi Antonelli has four straight wins – but can he make it five heading to the Monaco Grand Prix?
Kimi Antonelli has the opportunity to match Lewis Hamilton’s personal Mercedes record of five consecutive grand prix victories in Monaco.
Having triumphed in the Chinese, Japanese, Miami, and Canadian Grands Prix, Antonelli currently holds a 43-point advantage over teammate George Russell in the championship standings, who suffered an engine failure while leading.
The last Italian to emerge victorious in Monaco was Jarno Trulli back in 2004, setting the stage for Antonelli to potentially equal Hamilton’s five straight wins, a feat the Briton accomplished in 2014 and 2020 en route to securing his second and seventh world titles.
Nevertheless, this would not establish a new Mercedes record for most consecutive wins, as Nico Rosberg holds the record with seven successive victories between the 2015 Mexican and 2016 Russian Grands Prix.
