A lot of noise has been made around Gianpiero Lambiase’s move to McLaren, with Red Bull adament he will become its new team principal.
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has outlined Gianpiero Lambiase’s responsibilities at the team ahead of his expected arrival in 2028. The Woking-based outfit announced last month that Lambiase will join as chief racing officer, reporting directly to Stella. Stella insisted that Lambiase’s appointment was made solely to strengthen McLaren’s senior leadership group and support the team’s long-term ambitions. He emphasized the importance of employing the best talents in Formula 1 to build a strong team. Stella believes that integrating Lambiase’s leadership will create a stronger McLaren team. Lambiase’s role will include taking some of the day-to-day responsibilities off Stella’s shoulders, as the team principal. The plan is focused on creating a strong group of leaders to support McLaren’s success in the present and future.
