Max Verstappen grabbed his first podium of the season last time out in Canada.
Max Verstappen was surprised to finish on the podium at the Canadian Grand Prix, securing his first top-three result of the season. He started the race from sixth on the grid and quickly moved into the top four after McLaren’s early pit stops on intermediate tires. Verstappen also benefited from George Russell’s retirement due to a power unit failure. Despite being overtaken by Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen felt more comfortable with the car in Miami where he wasn’t in contention for a podium. He expressed happiness with the podium finish, citing McLaren’s strategy issues and Russell’s retirement. Verstappen felt more competitive before his pit stop and felt positive about Red Bull’s first podium finish of the campaign in Montreal.
