Carlos Sainz Urges F1 Authorities to Address a Paralyzing Concern

The GPDA director has a plea for F1 and its governing body.

Carlos Sainz has urged the FIA and F1 to stick to their beliefs regarding the 2027 rule changes, which are in danger of falling apart.

The proposed engine rule change for the next season aimed to shift to a 60:40 power output split, as opposed to the current 50:50 split between the Internal Combustion Engine and 350kw battery systems.

A crucial meeting during the Canadian GP weekend will determine whether the 60:40 split will be implemented for 2027 or postponed until 2028, as per RacingNews365.

Sainz emphasized the importance of doing what is best for the sport and encouraged the stakeholders to stand by their vision.

He stressed the significance of aligning the sport’s direction with the proposed changes, despite potential conflicts of interest among manufacturers and the political nature of decision-making in F1.
