Lewis Hamilton comes to sudden Ferrari realisation after ‘miles different’ shift
Lewis Hamilton has expressed his willingness to forego his simulator work for Ferrari, as he believes it led him astray ahead of the Miami Grand Prix qualifying session. Despite qualifying sixth in Miami, Hamilton noted a significant improvement in his SF-26 compared to the previous Sprint race and Qualifying session. The seven-time champion had spent time in the Maranello simulator during the April break but felt it negatively impacted his car setup, prompting a shift in approach before the qualifying session. While Hamilton acknowledged progress in the car’s performance, he admitted to struggling to extract the maximum potential during Q3. Reflecting on the experience, he stressed the importance of reverting to the setup from Friday’s practice to recapture the car’s performance, indicating a potential departure from using the simulator moving forward. Looking ahead to the wet conditions expected for the race, Hamilton remains optimistic that his improved balance will position him well for a strong showing on race day.
