Audi suffer second fire as horror day in Miami continues

Audi cannot catch a break at the Miami Grand Prix with another difficulty for the former Sauber team.

Audi faced a second fire incident of the day in Miami, as Gabriel Bortoleto had to stop on track during Q1 due to a brake fire on his R26.

This followed Nico Hulkenberg’s power unit catching fire on the way to the grid before the sprint race, preventing him from racing.

Despite starting from the back of the grid, Bortoleto’s participation in the grid-setting session was in doubt after air intake issues led to disqualification from the sprint.

Initially uncertain if the German team could resolve the issue in time, Hulkenberg managed to make it out for a timed lap in qualifying.

The team’s challenges continued with Hulkenberg’s second power unit fire before the sprint, eliminating his chances of competing in the race.
