Shockwaves in F1: Driver Disqualification Rocks Miami Sprint Event as FIA Takes Action

Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto has been disqualified from the Miami Grand Prix Sprint.

Audi driver Gabriel Bortoleto was disqualified from the Miami Grand Prix Sprint race by the FIA due to a technical rules breach impacting the engine air intake pressure.

Despite finishing 11th on the road, Bortoleto’s disqualification was confirmed during post-session technical checks revealing excessive engine air intake pressure, violating the 4.8 bar limit.

This ruling marked a challenging Sprint for Audi, with Nico Hulkenberg also encountering issues as he failed to start following a fiery exit on the out-lap to the grid.

In response to the findings, the FIA emphasized the requirement for engine intake air pressure to remain under 4.8 bar at all times, citing measurements from approved devices located in the engine intake air system.

While Audi acknowledged the error and promptly adjusted the pressure after detecting the issue, the technical infringement led to the standard penalty of disqualification from the Sprint classification for Car 5 being enforced.
