Mercedes will be liking what is being said by Oscar Piastri on McLaren’s upgrades for this weekend.
Oscar Piastri acknowledges that McLaren’s upgrade for the Miami Grand Prix won’t be sufficient to challenge Mercedes. He, similar to Charles Leclerc from Ferrari, sees the gap to Mercedes as too large to bridge with just one upgrade. Piastri had a strong showing at the Japanese GP, leading initially and securing a podium finish. Despite this, a safety car’s timing dashed his hopes of winning in Suzuka. Looking ahead to Miami, Piastri anticipates improvements in the McLaren but doesn’t expect it to outpace Mercedes immediately. He emphasizes the team’s motivation, confidence, and positive trajectory, hopeful for continued progress in upcoming races.
