Max Verstappen is adamant that his dissatisfaction with F1 in 2026 is only due to the new regulations, but Helmut Marko does not see it that way.
Helmut Marko indirectly refutes Max Verstappen’s suggestion that his enjoyment of F1 may not return this season, indicating that the Dutchman’s passion will be reignited once Red Bull improves the RB22’s competitiveness. Verstappen has expressed dissatisfaction with the 2026 regulations, calling them “anti-racing” and “Formula E on steroids,” and even hinted at the possibility of leaving F1 at the end of the year. His frustration has deepened with Red Bull’s poor start to the season, as the team currently sits in sixth place in the constructors’ standings with only 16 points from three rounds. Marko believes that once Red Bull addresses the fundamental issues with the RB22, Verstappen’s mood will change. He also hints at the potential for improved regulations in 2027 to enhance the racing experience, suggesting that such changes could positively impact not only Verstappen but the entire F1 community.
