Formula E Champion Delivers Devastating Blow to F1 Circuits

F1 has faced a major qualifying issue so far this season, something the likes of Formula E does not suffer.

Season 3 Formula E champion Lucas di Grassi has criticized F1’s current qualifying format, claiming that Formula E can complete qualifying sessions flat out. The new power unit regulations in F1 have caused complaints about not being able to push flat out during qualifying laps. In contrast, Formula E drivers do not need to manage energy during qualifying, allowing them to push flat out. With the introduction of Formula E’s new Gen4 car next season, the performance gap between F1 and Formula E is expected to decrease significantly. Changes to F1’s regulations ahead of the Miami Grand Prix aim to bring back flat-out qualifying, eliminating the need for energy management. Di Grassi highlighted the difference in qualifying approach between Formula E and F1, emphasizing Formula E’s focus on achieving the ultimate lap time without energy-saving constraints.
