Audi to announce major management overhaul and appointment of racing director
Audi is set to announce a management restructure with the appointment of a racing director, as reported by RacingNews365 sources, ahead of the Miami Grand Prix in May.
Following Jonathan Wheatley’s departure as team principal for “personal reasons,” Mattia Binotto took on additional responsibilities.
Audi has decided to create the role of racing director to provide Binotto with the support he needs during race weekends.
Allan McNish, a three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, is expected to be named to the role, bringing his vast experience and relationship with Audi to the team.
McNish’s responsibilities will include managing the team’s racing operations, coordinating race weekends, and engaging in media activities.
This move marks the latest in a series of leadership changes for the Audi F1 team that has faced scrutiny but has shown promise in its debut season with drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
