Aston Martin has been facing one major issue – but steps look to be in place to overcome it.
Aston Martin has addressed the vibration issues that affected its early-season running, stating that FIA intervention is not deemed necessary.
During the Chinese GP, Fernando Alonso experienced steering wheel vibrations, prompting a review by the FIA, with Alonso eventually retiring from the race.
In the Japanese GP, Aston Martin implemented countermeasures that allowed Alonso to finish the race, their first of the season, after collaborating with Honda during the April shutdown to address reliability concerns.
Chief trackside officer Mike Krack emphasized that the team did not require FIA intervention over the vibrations, despite concerns raised by team principal Adrian Newey about potential nerve damage to Alonso and Lance Stroll.
Krack affirmed that the team’s focus is on resolving the issues internally and improving operational procedures, underscoring the importance of good governance within the team.
Following reviews after both China and Japan, Aston Martin is optimistic that the implemented countermeasures will effectively address the vibration concerns and ensure a smoother running in future races.
