Rising Star Colton Herta Empowered with F1 Weekend Debut Opportunity with Cadillac

Colton Herta is set for his F1 weekend debut once F1 gets back to Europe.

Colton Herta, an American driver, will be making his F1 weekend debut driving for Cadillac in the upcoming Barcelona-Catalunya FP1 session. He switched from IndyCar to FIA F2 in 2026 to earn enough superlicence points for F1 eligibility and signed a test driver deal with Cadillac. Herta will participate in a total of four FP1 sessions, alongside regular drivers Bottas and Perez, with dates for the other three sessions still pending confirmation. Despite past experience with F1 machinery during TPC testing with McLaren, this will be Herta’s first official race weekend. An FIA F2 schedule clash will prevent him from competing in the Indy 500 in May but now aligns with the Canadian GP due to calendar changes. Herta expressed excitement for his opportunity with the Cadillac team and aims to contribute positively to the race weekend while learning and supporting Checo and Valtteri.
