It was a nasty accident for Oliver Bearman in Japan – one which has prompted major discussions between F1, the teams, and the FIA.
After his 50G crash in the Japanese GP, Oliver Bearman has now given a fresh health update, stating that he is all good and appreciates the concern.
The incident occurred when the Haas driver slammed into the barrier broadside while trying to pass Franco Colapinto of Alpine, highlighting concerns about closing speeds in the new regulations.
Although initially diagnosed with a “contusion” on his right knee and bruising, Bearman was otherwise in good health and managed to limp away from the accident.
Despite not addressing the media immediately post-crash due to a medical waiver from the FIA, Bearman was seen limping onto a train the day after the race as he headed home.
Nearly three weeks following the high-force impact, Bearman confirmed his recovery, mentioning some swelling on the knee but expressing gratitude that the injury was not more severe.
Having already resumed simulator driving practice with his brother, Bearman is thankful for his well-being and eagerly anticipates returning to racing, particularly looking forward to the upcoming Miami event.
