Red Bull has confirmed the exit of long-time Max Verstappen race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase.
Former Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko expressed his reaction to Gianpiero Lambiase’s departure from the team, emphasizing the significant loss it represents for Max Verstappen.
Lambiase worked as Verstappen’s race engineer for over a decade before accepting a role as McLaren’s chief racing engineer, under team principal Andrea Stella.
Marko highlighted the strong bond between Verstappen and Lambiase, describing them as being like an “old married couple” with their share of arguments and disagreements.
The duo’s partnership was highly successful, securing four titles and over 70 Grand Prix victories together, making their separation a notable event in Formula 1 history.
Marko also acknowledged Lambiase’s broad impact on Red Bull beyond race weekends, noting his contributions to car development and set-up that sometimes diverged from the technical team’s consensus.
