Lewis Hamilton has dismissed criticism over the new F1 rules, with several drivers voicing their lack of enthusiasm for the new cars.
Lewis Hamilton has praised the new F1 cars for 2026, claiming they are more enjoyable to drive than any previous generation he has encountered. These cars have undergone significant regulatory changes this year, particularly in terms of aerodynamics and power units. The adjustments to power units have shifted the focus of drivers towards energy harvesting and deployment, altering the approach to speed extraction. This has led to a phenomenon known as “yo-yo racing,” where drivers struggle to maintain position after overtaking due to depleted batteries. Hamilton argued that this dynamic resembles go-karting, which is not criticized for similar back-and-forth movements. In his 20th F1 season, Hamilton highlighted that the current cars offer the advantage of being able to closely follow rivals through high-speed corners, providing a better form of racing compared to previous years.
