Bernd Maylander has long been associated with F1 and this weekend takes part in a landmark grand prix!
F1 safety car driver Bernd Maylander will reach a milestone this weekend, with his 500th grand prix appearance at the Australian Grand Prix.
Maylander has been in the role since 2000 and debuted at the Albert Park circuit.
Over the past 26 years, he has only missed a few races, such as the 2001 Canadian Grand Prix due to injury.
Maylander plays a crucial role in controlling the pace and ensuring safety on the track during incidents.
With 500 entries, Maylander has more experience than any grand prix driver in history, surpassing Fernando Alonso’s record.
Before his F1 role, Maylander had success in GT racing, Le Mans, and the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
To mark his achievements, Maylander was honored with a special presentation by the FIA on the race weekend.
