Oscar Piastri has announced McLaren has “removed” Lando Norris’ repercussions after the Australian was deemed responsible for taking them both out of the sprint at the Circuit of the Americas.
McLaren reset after the United States Grand Prix due to Piastri admitting fault in the first corner incident with Norris during the sprint race. Verstappen capitalized on the chaos to secure a dominant win, closing the gap in the championship standings. Piastri maintains his lead, but with only a 14-point advantage over Norris and a shrinking margin to Verstappen. The Dutch driver’s recent surge poses a significant threat to Piastri’s title bid. Despite previous tensions, McLaren has cleared the slate for both drivers ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix. Piastri confirmed that Norris’ Singapore sanctions have been lifted and emphasized the importance of starting anew.
