Rising Star Colton Herta Sets Sights on Cadillac F1 Seat with F2 Confirmation

An exciting move for Colton Herta as he targets a future Cadillac F1 seat

American driver Colton Herta has officially made the switch from IndyCar to Formula 2, joining Hitech Grand Prix for the 2026 season in pursuit of super licence points for Formula 1.

Herta’s decision to leave the American racing series demonstrates his aspiration to compete in single-seaters and eventually reach F1.

As a Cadillac test driver, Herta will also be part of the American brand’s entry into F1 as the 11th team in 2026.

While Cadillac has signed experienced drivers like Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, having an American driver on the grid remains a long-term goal for the team.

Expressing his excitement for the new challenge in F2, Herta emphasized his determination, focus, and motivation to perform well and progress towards his ultimate goal of racing in Formula 1.
