At the Classic Sports Car Club Modern & Retro race weekend at Castle Combe, Graham Crowhurst, inspired by Jeff Koons’ BMW Art Car, overcame technical issues to maintain his championship lead on Saturday and won the 3 Series 50th Anniversary celebration on Sunday.
Sonorous E46s dominated the points races, with Niall Bradley winning both and Crowhurst coming in third overall, winning class B and battling Ollie Neaves.
Crowhurst faced challenges with his throttle glitching during a caution, but quickly recovered to finish third and set the fastest lap of the race.
In the Swinging Sixties races, Chris Watkinson and Malcolm Johnson engaged in a fierce battle, with Watkinson ultimately taking the victory.
The lead battle in Group 2 was intense, with Kevin Bird and Charles Tippet fighting for first place, only for Ben Tovey to surprise them and secure the win.
Modern and Future Classics saw Grunty 3.9-litre MGB GTV8s dominating, with Neil Fowler clinching the victory ahead of Ollie Neaves/Russell McCarthy.
