Alex Marquez, a MotoGP title contender, has been cleared to participate in Free Practice 1 at the German Grand Prix despite a hand injury from Assen. He must pass a fitness test to continue racing for the weekend. Marquez aims to minimize point loss in the championship battle, trailing leader Marc Marquez by 68 points but ahead of Francesco Bagnaia by 58. His injury occurred in a crash involving Pedro Acosta at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Marquez expressed readiness to compete after successful surgery and medical clearance on Thursday. The priority is to assess his condition during FP1 and gauge his performance for the entire weekend. The unexpected position in the title race drove him to return early to the track. In contrast, Enea Bastianini is ruled out of the race due to appendicitis, facing a swift recovery for the upcoming Czech Republic Grand Prix.
