After a disappointing qualifying run at Formula 1’s British Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc hinted at a mysterious problem with his Ferrari that has been affecting him in high-speed corners, now revealed to be related to power steering.
Leclerc launched an expletive-laden tirade via team radio after a mistake in qualifying, dropping him to sixth place on the grid.
Leclerc expressed frustration over a gremlin in the SF-25, particularly in high-speed corners like those at Silverstone, causing difficulties driving at the limit.
The issue seems to be specific to qualifying sessions and high-speed corners, affecting performance more at tracks like Silverstone than at slower circuits like Monaco.
Autosport reports the problem is likely linked to the power steering system, as it struggles to handle the lateral G-forces during aggressive driving maneuvers in fast corners.
Ultimately, this limitation has been a challenge for Leclerc and Ferrari, impacting their performance in qualifying but not in races, with hopes for a resolution in the future.
