Verstappen Shocks Silverstone: Secures Sensational Pole Position at F1 British Grand Prix

Max Verstappen claimed a surprising pole position at the British Grand Prix after a breathtaking final lap that outperformed both McLarens at Silverstone.

Despite Ferrari, especially Lewis Hamilton, appearing to pose a challenge to Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, it was Verstappen, the reigning world champion, who snatched the top spot with a remarkable time of 1m24.892s.

Championship leader Piastri will share the front row with Verstappen, while McLaren’s Norris settled for third, setting up an all-British second row alongside George Russell of Mercedes.

Hamilton, hindered by a messy final sector during his flying lap, will begin from fifth, joined by Charles Leclerc of Ferrari on the third row.

However, rookies Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman, who showed promise, face penalties for the race due to incidents in qualifying.

Fernando Alonso secured ninth place for Aston Martin but will line up seventh on the grid, next to Pierre Gasly of Alpine, as the qualifying session had its fair share of ups and downs across the grid.
