The Alpine Formula 1 team has officially signed Steve Nielsen as managing director at the Enstone squad.
The 61-year-old Nielsen, a respected veteran in the paddock, was identified by Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore as the ideal replacement for Oliver Oakes.
Nielsen, who previously worked as Renault’s sporting director during their championship-winning seasons with Fernando Alonso, will start his new role on September 1.
In addition to Nielsen, Alpine has brought in other senior figures, including Kris Midgley as Head of Aerodynamic Development and Guy Martin as Global Marketing Director.
Midgley, a former principal aerodynamicist at Ferrari, is returning to his former squad from Enstone, while Martin joins from Visa as Alpine’s new marketing leader.
The team’s restructuring signals a new chapter for Alpine as they aim to strengthen their competitive position in Formula 1.
