The Thrilling Investigation: Unraveling the Mysteries of Fuel System Failures in the World Rally Championship

The FIA is currently investigating fuel system issues faced by World Rally Championship Rally1 teams at the Acropolis Rally Greece, leading Toyota and M-Sport-Ford to retire cars. Toyota decided to withdraw Sami Pajari due to a fuel system problem, halting his strong run for a podium finish. Pajari returned on Sunday after missing Saturday’s stages since Toyota couldn’t fix the issue in time. M-Sport also had a fuel system problem with Martins Sesks’ car on Friday, causing them to replace the fuel tank for Saturday’s stages. The heat in Greece, with cockpit temperatures exceeding 70C, is suspected to have exacerbated the fuel system problems encountered by the teams. The issues have emerged after the WRC switched to a new sustainable fuel supplier following P1 Racing Fuels going out of business earlier this year. The FIA is assisting teams and suppliers to understand and address the fuel tank problems affecting certain Rally1 cars.
