Alexander Albon believes that Formula 1’s racing guidelines require further refinement, particularly after experiencing several aggressive maneuvers in races in Spain and Canada. For instance, in the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona, he was pushed off the track by Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson, leaving him with little room to maneuver. A similar incident occurred in the Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal with Alpine driver Franco Colapinto. Albon expressed his dissatisfaction with the current racing standards, stating that he feels pressured to yield and avoid crashes while still being penalized for doing so. The rules were recently revised for the 2025 season following discussions among drivers at the Qatar Grand Prix in 2024, but Albon and his colleagues continue to navigate the evolving landscape. Albon acknowledged the need to adjust his racing approach to align more closely with the rulebook and address the challenges of exploiting regulations, especially in competitive situations on the track. Liam Lawson empathized with Albon’s frustrations and highlighted the complexities of adhering to and interpreting the rules within the sport.
