Fabio Quartararo had a tumultuous weekend at Mugello, experiencing a rollercoaster of results in the MotoGP races. Despite qualifying at the front after a crash on Friday, he struggled in both the sprint and main race, finishing 14th in the latter.
The Frenchman cited chattering issues for his performance dip and noted that the longer race duration exacerbated grip-related problems on his Yamaha. Quartararo emphasized the challenges faced due to low grip levels and their adverse effects on bike handling and lap times.
Expressing disappointment, Quartararo highlighted the stark contrast between his pole-winning one-lap speed and his struggles in race conditions, particularly perplexed by Yamaha’s performance gaps on tracks where he historically excelled.
Acknowledging the need for significant improvements, Quartararo underlined the urgency to address Yamaha’s shortcomings, especially in handling adverse track and weather conditions to bridge the existing performance gap.
