Red Bull boss Christian Horner is confident that his team can handle any potential issues if Max Verstappen faces a penalty at the Canadian Grand Prix due to reaching 11 penalty points.
The unique situation of Red Bull owning two teams allows flexibility with driver assignments, enabling seamless swaps like Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson earlier in the season.
In case Verstappen were to receive a ban, the team has multiple drivers to choose from, although they aim to avoid disrupting junior driver Arvid Lindblad’s Formula 2 campaign.
Lindblad received special permission for an F1-grade superlicence despite being under the age minimum, showcasing his potential within the Red Bull driver pool.
Horner hinted that Liam Lawson or Isack Hadjar could be likely replacements for Verstappen, with Ayumu Iwasa as a reserve option.
In terms of Yuki Tsunoda’s progress, Horner acknowledged a confidence setback after a crash but emphasized the importance of seat time to regain momentum and close the gap to Verstappen’s performance level.
