Colapinto Struggles to Find Harmony with Alpine F1 Car Amid Challenging Debut Races

Franco Colapinto acknowledges that he has struggled to adapt to his car in his initial races with Alpine, expressing hope that improvements made at the factory could lead to a breakthrough at the Canadian Grand Prix in Formula 1.

Despite replacing Jack Doohan mid-season, Colapinto has not managed to demonstrate marked improvement over the demoted Australian, facing challenges like a crash in Imola and being off the pace in Monaco and Barcelona.

Acting team principal Flavio Briatore has been closely evaluating Colapinto’s performance as he considers Pierre Gasly’s 2026 teammate, emphasizing the need for progress.

Colapinto reflects on the difficulties faced during his mid-season debut and confesses that his second Formula 1 stint has not met his expectations, contrasting his experiences at Williams with those at Alpine.

Following intimate work with the team in Enstone, Colapinto and Alpine have identified setup issues that have hindered his performance, instilling some confidence for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix.
