Malcom Wilson has been elected as FIA Deputy President for Sport after a vote at the FIA’s Extraordinary General Assembly in Macau.
Wilson, nominated by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, replaces Robert Reid, the former co-driver champion who resigned due to a ‘standards breakdown’ at the FIA.
An overwhelming majority of voters supported Wilson’s appointment to the position.
As a prominent figure in British motorsport, Wilson has a successful career in rallying, including winning the British Rally Championship in 1994.
He is the founder of M-Sport, which has had a successful run in the WRC and other racing programs, garnering multiple championships and accolades.
Wilson expressed his excitement for the opportunity, looking forward to contributing to the advancement of motorsport and grassroots initiatives alongside the FIA President.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem praised Wilson’s wealth of experience and expertise, emphasizing the importance of his role in shaping the future of motorsport under the FIA.
