In recent years, Formula 1 has become a sponsorship juggernaut, earning over $2 billion in 2024, second only to the NFL in annual revenue.
A report from SponsorUnited revealed that F1 and its teams generated $2.04 billion last year, surpassing established American sports leagues like the NBA, MLB, and NHL in sponsorship money.
The $2.5 billion revenue from the NFL topped F1’s figure, showcasing the differing approaches to sponsorship in each championship.
On average, each F1 team earned over $6 million, significantly more than what NFL teams typically receive from partnerships.
Key figures in the sport, like Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, attribute the rising values to success, growth, and the new ownership’s focus on entertainment value.
Top-earning teams in terms of sponsorship are Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren, with technology partnerships leading the way with over $500 million in income across the teams.
