For years, the Formula 1 paddock has praised Max Verstappen for his remarkable achievements and talent. The Red Bull driver has consistently impressed with his dominance, unexpected wins, and daring overtaking moves. Verstappen’s exceptional racecraft was on display at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix when he made a masterful move to take the lead.
However, there’s a dark side to Verstappen’s driving that has emerged under pressure. His deliberate collision with George Russell in the Spanish GP raises concerns about his unsportsmanlike behavior. This is not the first time we’ve seen Verstappen resort to such tactics, like brake-testing Hamilton or running rivals off the track.
Despite the frequency and intent behind Verstappen’s actions, the governing bodies have failed to address this behavior adequately. The stewards’ decision in Barcelona left many questions unanswered regarding Verstappen’s actions. It remains to be seen how this issue will be addressed moving forward in Formula 1.
