Carlos Sainz criticized the mandatory two-pitstop rule at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, stating that it allowed drivers to manipulate the race by slowing down to create an advantage for teammates.
This strategy was employed by the Williams drivers, resulting in both Sainz and Alex Albon scoring points in Monaco by holding up the midfield.
Sainz expressed discontent, noting that such tactics were too easy to execute at Monaco but not feasible at other tracks with DRS zones and straights.
The frustration led to on-track clashes, with George Russell overtaking Albon off-track, resulting in a penalty for Russell.
Sainz highlighted the need for stricter penalties to deter race manipulation, despite acknowledging the challenges faced during the Monaco Grand Prix.
It was a successful race for Racing Bull, as Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar teamed up effectively, securing a double-points finish with Hadjar finishing in sixth place and Lawson in eighth.
