Resilience and Redemption: Tsunoda Tackles Monaco in Older Red Bull Car Spec

Yuki Tsunoda has acknowledged that his significant crash during qualifying in Imola will continue to impact him, leading him to switch back to a prior floor design for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

The crash occurred when Tsunoda pushed the Red Bull too far at the fast Tamburello chicane, resulting in a severe impact with the barriers. While he escaped unhurt, the car was extensively damaged, requiring the team to prepare a spare chassis with a new power unit and floor.

Tsunoda revealed that due to the crash, he will be at a performance disadvantage compared to his teammate Max Verstappen, utilizing an older Red Bull floor design for Monaco.

The Japanese driver admitted that he still lacks full understanding of the Red Bull RB21’s reactions to setup changes, especially after having to acclimate to the car quickly without prior testing.

Despite the challenges, Tsunoda remains optimistic about gradually increasing his pace around the demanding Monaco circuit, aiming for a strong qualifying performance while adjusting to the unique characteristics of the track and the car.
